STRATFORD, CT (Dec. 2, 2021) – Bridgeport Hospital is the title sponsor for the 22nd Holiday Run/Walk for Toys on Sunday, Dec. 12, from 9:30 - 11:30 am in Stratford.
Registration takes place on the morning of the run/walk until 8:45 am in the lot at the seawall, 10 Washington Parkway, Stratford. This includes the Little Tykes Fun Run from 9:15 - 9:20 am, directed by the “queen” of kids’ runs, Donna Cramond. Parents can run with their kids if they wish.
All toys collected at the event will be donated to the Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet at Bridgeport Hospital and distributed to children through the holiday season and beyond.
You can donate directly at https://foundation.bridgeporthospital.org/bh-holiday-giving/.
“The family-friendly event has the simple goal of making as many kids as happy as possible,” said Steve Jakab, president of the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation. “To help us achieve this goal, as part of your entry fee, we ask that you bring a new, unwrapped toy suitable for children between 1-16 years old. Thanks for joining us and making a difference in our community.”
Awards, prizes, edible items and/or holiday gifts are presented to the male and female champions as well as two deep in age groups 9 and under, 10-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ (and older if pre-registered).
A new 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course goes through a scenic, quiet neighborhood along the waterfront in Stratford. It is flat, fun, and easily doable even for the youngest runners. Last year runners ranged from 6 to 81. Course map available at https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7439020.
The event is limited to the first 200 registered people. Registration is $20 from until Dec. 10 and $22 on event weekend; $12 for those 18 and under and 70-plus through Dec. 10 and $15 on event weekend
“Thanks to Little Pub for hosting our event and working with us to keep our tradition intact,” Jakab said. “We could not have this great community event without the support of Little Pub and the cooperation of many Stratford town departments.”
