Board Appointments Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center

Bridgeport , CT — The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center (NPBCC) has added three new members to its Advisory Board.

Georgia Adams of Westport is a community volunteer and philanthropist. Over the past 20 years, she has assumed leadership positions on several not-for-profit boards, including the Westport-Weston United Way, Westport Public School Systems PTA, and National Charity League. She currently serves on the boards of Family and Children's Agency in Norwalk, and Near and Far Aid, Inc. She is a child advocate with Child Advocates of Connecticut and a Guardian ad Litem, working with abused and neglected children.

Ms. Adams, a retired energy risk management specialist, has held senior management positions with Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs.  She lives with her husband and two children.

Lauren Fuchs of Fairfield is involved in a wide variety of charities and causes. These include Bridgeport Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Inspirica, helping Connecticut’s homeless, Jewish Home for the Elderly, and AIPAC.

Ms. Fuchs family’s was touched by breast cancer when her mother died of the disease. She became a volunteer with the Breast Care Center to help others impacted by the disease. “By becoming a member of the NPBCC Advisory Board,” she says, “I would hope to be able to help even more people.” She lives with her husband and daughter.

Laurel Oztemel of Westport and New York City came to New York City in 1982 to pursue a career as a singer and producer. She made her Broadway debut as one of the producers for "Promises Promises" and is now involved in the development of new theatre works. In addition, she owns a small design company in Connecticut.

Ms. Oztemel has supported the Breast Care Center since its inception and has performed at several events. “The Breast Care Center is a wonderful organization providing care and support for many women and their families. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it develop and being part of its growth.”

Ms. Oztemel is the mother of two sons.

Part of Bridgeport Hospital and the Yale New Haven Health System, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has served more than 20,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999. One of only 200 sites accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the Center provides a wide range of diagnostic care and treatment at its Bridgeport Hospital and Fairfield locations, including medical oncology, surgical and chemotherapy services, plastic surgery, mammography and radiation therapy, and genetic risk assessment as well as opportunities to participate in clinical trials. The Breast Care Center office at 111 Beach Road in Fairfield also provides comprehensive women’s wellness services, including nutrition counseling, massage and Reiki therapy, wig and prosthesis fitting, counseling, yoga, Pilates, naturopathic medicine, and other patient support activities.
