Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary May 4 gala to support Newborn ICU

Kathleen Sauer

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

BRIDGEPORT, CT (April 11, 2017) – The Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary will host its annual spring gala, “Dancing with the Hospital Stars,” 6 - 10 pm Thursday, May 4, at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield. The event benefits the renovation of the Allison Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Bridgeport campus of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital; Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet; equipment, programs and therapist scholarships for Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers, and other grants and programs that benefit patients.

The Auxiliary will continue the successful dance contest theme it introduced for the gala in 2015, based on the popular television program that pairs celebrities with professional dancers. This year’s hospital “celebrities” are anesthesiologist Lisa Caramico, MD; nurse anesthetist Theresa Donnelly; operating room nurse Dana Generelli; performance management coordinator Nickia Jackson; Director of Trauma Services and Emergency Preparedness Paul Possenti; and Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology Harold Sauer, MD.

“Our hospital dancers spend several hours over a number of weeks practicing their steps with professionals from a local dance studio,” said Bonnie Molloy, Auxiliary president. “Their routines are truly remarkable and a source of ongoing enjoyment and amazement for guests.”

Auction items at the gala include a one-week stay at the Reefs Villas in the Atlantis Resort valued at $7,000 and a diamond necklace valued at $2,000. Bids may be placed before May 4 by emailing [email protected]. For ticket information and requests, call 203-384-3331 or visit facebook.com/bhaux.

Established in 1959, the all-volunteer Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary has spent almost 60 years supporting hospital programs, services, facility upgrades and staff scholarships. The group also operates the hospital’s gift shop, which offers greeting cards, flowers, clothing and a variety of other gift items for patients, visitors and staff.
