6/7/2012 — New York magazine recently named 51 physicians at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) among the best in the New York metropolitan area in its 15th annual "Best Doctors" issue. The YNHH doctors were selected from more than 6,000 physicians in the greater New York area.
The list, which is compiled by a New York City research and information company, Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., includes more than 5,600 physicians deemed to be in the top 10 percent of the region's physicians. Physicians vote online for those doctors who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields, taking into account not only professional qualifications such as education, residency, board certification, reputation, etc., and patient care skills, such as listening and communication, empathy and instilling trust and confidence.
Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). Founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826, today, YNHH has two New Haven-based campuses, and also includes Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital. YNHH has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the nation’s highest honor of nursing excellence. YNHH has a combined medical staff of about 4,500 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties. www.ynhh.org
