Corporate Member Services

As part of the Yale New Haven Health System, corporate members may take advantage of services and clinical specialty networks designed to increase patient access to care, improve quality and safety and reduce costs. We remain committed to working with our corporate members, network participants and their affiliated physicians and other partners to find solutions that yield results.

In addition to service line development, our clinical and business resources for corporate members enhance a collaborative, more transparent system of health care. One that links medical experts and clinical resources as well as one that eases some of the financial strain experienced by so many providers.

Corporate Member Services and Specialty Networks

Managed Care Services and Direct Contracting

Our staff develops, analyzes, negotiates and manages payer contracts for Yale New Haven Health hospitals. Additional services include ancillary contracting support, direct employer contracting services, assistance with contract performance monitoring and reinsurance. Many system-wide contracts, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial products, are negotiated through the Managed Care Division. Yale New Haven Health also develops direct contracts with employers for its members through its Managed Care Network. The network includes the hospitals and physicians associated with the system's corporate members as well as the network affiliates. Under direct contracting, providers assist the employer with developing a self-funded insurance program with access to a large provider network (such as Yale New Haven Health System) and competitive reimbursement rates. The majority of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States employ some form of direct contracting in their employee health plans.

Northeast Medical Group

This system-wide physician group is designed to create opportunities for better collaboration, quality of care and physician alignment. NEMG includes physicians throughout Yale New Haven Health, including the hospital-employed physicians at Greenwich and Bridgeport hospitals, the hospitalists of Yale New Haven Hospital and community physicians.

Specialty Networks

Heart and Vascular Center

The Heart and Vascular Center brings together cardiac and vascular surgeons, cardiologists and interventional radiologists from Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale School of Medicine, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and Westerly Hospital. The center has enhanced access to primary angioplasty and catheterization, ventricular assist device implants and the latest in cardiac surgery, including heart transplants. It has also developed ambulatory case management tools and reporting systems for its managed care contracts. The strong referral relationship and collaboration among hospital- and community-based heart and vascular physicians has encouraged the sharing of best practices and enhanced quality and safety systems.

Smilow Cancer Hospital Network

Smilow Cancer Hospital Network, an alliance of physicians and hospitals in Connecticut, provides patients with outstanding expertise in cancer treatment and access to the latest discoveries in cancer research. Led by Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center – the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive care center in Connecticut – Smilow Cancer Hospital Network offers clinicians access to resources designed to guide decision-making in the management of cancer. The network also offers a referral network for patients seeking second opinions or requiring tertiary care. In addition to the flagship Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Yale New Haven Health has many care centers across the region along with Smilow Cancer Hospital's Greenwich campus and at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Yale New Haven Children's Pediatric Network

This network partners with hospitals and physicians to enhance the overall health, quality and safety of pediatric patients. Services include consultation on the affiliate hospital's pediatric program, emergency department management and physician coverage, access to evidence-based pediatric protocols, pediatric specialist tele-consultation and the development of disease management protocols for asthma and other chronic conditions. Other services available to affiliates include: pediatric emergency department, newborn special care, inpatient pediatric units, pediatric intensive care, a pediatric surgery center, outpatient pediatric specialty centers and psychiatric services for children and adolescents.

TeleStroke Network

Yale New Haven Health, with Yale New Haven Stroke Center, created the state's first telemedicine stroke program in 2008. Using high-speed network videoconferencing and image-sharing technology, partner hospitals can rapidly assess and consult with experts on treatment options for acute stroke victims without transferring the patient to Yale New Haven Hospital for diagnosis. Yale New Haven Stroke Center is a state-designated primary stroke center and a nationally-designated primary stroke center through The Joint Commission.
