Yale New Haven Health Managed Care Network

Our Managed Care Network, in conjunction with Yale New Haven Health System's Managed Care Division, allows us to develop, analyze, negotiate and manage payer contracts. Managed Care Network staff members facilitate contract negotiations for Yale New Haven Health System's PHOs, IPAs and hospitals by conducting legal, actuarial and financial analyses to determine the feasibility of each potential managed care contract. Managed Care Network staff also provide ancillary contracting support, direct employer contracting services, assistance with contract performance monitoring and reinsurance. Numerous systemwide contracts, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial products have been negotiated through the Managed Care Network.

  • Clinical Pathway Development
Yale-New Haven Hospital has developed 44 inpatient protocols currently and is also developing outpatient protocols. Bridgeport Hospital has developed 28 diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) that include the entire continuum of care from pre-hospitalization to post-discharge aftercare. These clinical pathways can be adapted for use among the other system delivery networks.
  • Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE)
CORE is a premier center at Yale-New Haven Hospital dedicated to improving the quality, efficiency and outcomes of patient care. CORE provides information about patient care from the perspective of patients, health care professionals, the health care system and payers, and is beginning to publish clinical and financial outcomes report cards. In addition, a system-level Quality Outcomes Center has been developed to monitor key quality indicators across Yale New Haven Health System, facilitate shared learnings, as well as develop clinical pathways that span the continuum of care throughout the health system and track patient outcomes along these pathways.
