Throughout May, Northeast Medical Group staff members at Yale Medicine Dermatology in Branford showed their support of Melanoma Awareness Month. Staff wore all black on “Melanoma Mondays” – a nod to the black ribbon that symbolizes melanoma and skin cancer awareness. In addition, a nurse made custom melanoma awareness t-shirts.
“Melanoma is considered the deadliest form of skin cancer, but it is highly treatable if detected early,” said Erica Conte, LPN. “An initiative like this helps educate our patients, and that’s a tremendous defense.”
