Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey launches Sept.14

Employee Engagement & Culture of Safety Survey

Employee feedback helps drive meaningful change, which is why all employees are encouraged to participate in the 2026 Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey. The survey runs Monday, Sept. 14 - Sunday, Sept. 27.

The survey explores a range of topics, including communication, employee well-being, accountability and action-taking. It also measures Yale New Haven Health’s culture of safety through questions about employee and patient safety.

Leaders use survey feedback to better understand employee needs and identify opportunities to strengthen support, engagement and empowerment across YNHHS. This year’s results will help leaders evaluate progress since last year’s survey and assess the impact of action plans implemented at the department, delivery network and system levels.

Insights from previous surveys have contributed to meaningful changes. For example, employees expressed interest in a simpler, more efficient process for referring candidates to open positions at YNHHS. In response, Human Resources enhanced the internal careers site, making it easier for referred candidates to apply. Additional improvements included expanding referral bonus eligibility and providing clearer guidance on eligibility and payout details.

YNHHS also introduced UKG Pro Workforce Management to modernize timekeeping, scheduling and attendance management. The new platform reduces administrative tasks for employees and leaders and allows employees to view schedules and track hours through a mobile app.

To help employees better understand and maximize their benefits, the Benefits team continued monthly webinars on topics such as voluntary benefits, retirement planning, flexible spending accounts and other resources.

YNHHS continued to make significant capital investments in safety, including additional surveillance cameras and weapons detection equipment across its hospitals.

These initiatives and many others driven by employee feedback reflect YNHHS’ ongoing commitment to creating a more supportive, rewarding and safe workplace.

YNHHS’ independent survey vendor, Glint, Inc., will administer this year’s Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey, compile employees’ confidential responses and provide results in aggregate.

On Sept. 14, every employee with a health system email address will receive an email from Glint with a unique survey link, which connects employee responses to the correct organization. Alternatively, employees may take the survey through a generic link on the employee intranet or via a link on YNHHS mobile devices through Secure Chat. Employees who prefer to complete the survey at home can access it on any computer or mobile device with internet access.

The more employees who participate in the survey, the stronger the results. Survey participation is also included as a Performance Incentive Program (PIP) metric in many YNHHS organizations.
