New Haven, CT (Feb. 19, 2020) – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) has been designated as one of the nation’s Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) in 2020. For the ninth consecutive year, BWC recognized YNHH for offering exceptional employee-provided commuter benefits that meet the National Standard of Excellence criteria by providing an array of commuter benefits, resulting in at least 14 percent of their employee base not driving alone to work within a 12-month period.
According to BWC, Yale New Haven is one of 200 organizations across the country that has addressed their employees’ concerns regarding challenges such as traffic congestion and reducing emissions and offers a range of commuter benefits that gives employees the support they need to get to and from work more efficiently.

YNHH offers employees several commuter benefit options and alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use, including shuttle services, public transportation subsidies, car- and van-pooling and other alternatives. The program helps address parking challenges; demonstrates environmental excellence by reducing gasoline demand, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution; and exhibits corporate citizenship.
Yale New Haven Hospital offers employees several commuter benefit options, including:
- Free CTTRANSIT (BUS) monthly passes to any employees (in lieu of a parking spot)
- Commuter Train subsidy up to $100 per month to employees who leave their cars at home (in lieu of a parking spot)
- Free YNHH operated commuter bus system
- Carpooling program
- Walk and Bike to work programs
- All participants receive TWO FREE parks per month
- Emergency Ride Home program
