Northeast Medical Group staff donate to renovate rooms for Bridgeport families in need

Thursday, August 18, 2016

Northeast Medical Group (NEMG), an affiliate of Yale New Haven Health, received a plaque on Saturday from Bridgeport Rescue Mission in appreciation for its staff's financial donation and volunteer work in renovating rooms for families in need. NEMG's staff raised over $1,600, which will help renovate a sitting area at its Guest House for Women and Children in Bridgeport. The Guest House is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides the essentials of safe lodging, nourishing food and needed clothing for displaced women with children.

A group of volunteers from NEMG also volunteered on Saturday to help renovate two bedrooms at the Women's Center in Bridgeport.

"We enjoyed getting to know the enthusiastic and caring group of NEMG volunteers who recently spent the day painting and assembling furniture to transform two bedrooms at our Women's Center into a comfortable haven for the women in our New Life Program who are working hard to overcome addiction, said Executive Director Reverend Terry Wilcox, Bridgeport Rescue Mission. "We value their partnership."

"Our staff has shown great compassion by making donations and volunteering their time to better the lives of people in the communities where they live and work," said President and CEO Prathibha Varkey, MBBS, Northeast Medical Group. "We look forward to our continued partnership with the Rescue Mission in the life-changing work they do every day."
