Greenwich, CT - As the country celebrates the 13th annual National Donate Life Month, Greenwich Hospital has been flying the donate life flag on the front lawn of its main campus at 5 Perridge Road in honor of the men and women who gave the gift of life.
In 2015, Greenwich Hospital had a total of 11 organ and tissue donors.
“The generosity of these donors restored health in the grateful recipients of lifesaving transplants. Greenwich Hospital is proud to be a Donate Life organization. Our hope is that increased awareness will prompt more people to register as organ, eye and tissue donors,” said Norman Roth, the hospital’s president.
National Donate Life Month commemorates those who have given the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Greenwich Hospital raises the flag for one week every time the hospital has an organ donor and for two days for tissue donors.
According to Donate Life New England, on average 22 people die each day because the organ they need is not donated in time.
