BRIDGEPORT, CT (June 2, 2026) – Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, has earned The Joint Commission’s voluntary Excellent Health Outcomes for All Certification, recognizing its commitment to providing equitable, high-quality care for all patients and communities it serves. It’s the first hospital in Connecticut to receive the certification.
The advanced certification acknowledges hospitals and critical access hospitals that are leading efforts to reduce health care disparities and improve outcomes through intentional, systemwide strategies. Bridgeport Hospital’s achievement reflects ongoing work to strengthen equity in care delivery, enhance patient experience and promote inclusive practices across the organization.
The Health Care Equity Certification focuses on the structures and processes necessary to advance health equity, including efforts to:

Bridgeport Hospital’s efforts include developing culturally responsive care models, expanding access to services and leveraging data-driven insights to improve outcomes across diverse populations. The hospital supports vulnerable patients through high-touch care coordination programs and offers robust language access services, including a video interpreter interface integrated with Epic and broad interpreter availability across clinical settings. Social workers play a critical role in addressing complex social needs, while hospital leaders remain closely engaged in the patient complaint and grievance process to ensure concerns are addressed with transparency and accountability. In the Emergency Department, dedicated pediatric treatment areas feature specialized technology, customized environments and calming activities designed to meet the unique needs of children and families. These and other initiatives reflect a multidisciplinary approach that integrates equity into clinical care, operations and organizational culture.
By earning this designation, Bridgeport Hospital joins a select group of organizations nationwide committed to setting a higher standard for equitable care, ensuring that all patients, regardless of background, have access to safe, effective and compassionate treatment.
