Arnim Dontes, MBA, appointed as CFO of Yale New Haven Health

New Haven, CT (March 10, 2026) – Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) has appointed Arnim Dontes, MBA, as chief financial officer (CFO), effective April 1. Dontes brings extensive experience in academic medicine and financial management to the role.

"Arnim's collaborative leadership style and stewardship of large, complex financial enterprises position him well to guide our health system's continued growth and long-term sustainability," said Christopher O'Connor, chief executive officer, YNHHS. “I am confident he will be a trusted partner to our clinical and operational leaders as we advance our strategic priorities and continue strengthening our health system.”

Dontes joins YNHHS from Yale School of Medicine (YSM), where he has served for the past five years as deputy dean for Finance & Administration. In that role, he oversaw the school’s $3 billion operating budget and led its financial, budgetary, human resources, capital planning, information technology and administrative functions. During his tenure, Dontes worked closely with leaders across Yale New Haven Health to strengthen alignment between the School of Medicine and the health system, helping advance a world-class academic health system. 

Prior to joining YSM, Dontes was executive vice president for Business Affairs at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center from 2011 to 2021, directing more than 15 administrative departments. Before that, he held senior leadership roles, including as vice dean for administration, at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Dontes earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and holds an MBA from the University of Illinois Chicago. He has contributed nationally to academic medicine, serving as chair and immediate past chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Business Affairs.
