Our Community

Every year, we promote health and wellness through an array of community-based programs and services. It’s part of our mission to create healthier communities – because we’re part of the community too.  

Each of our employees represents Yale New Haven Health at work and at home. You see us in the grocery store and your kids go to school with ours. We are your friends, relatives, and neighbors. And – just like you – we want to make our community a great place to live, work, and play.  

We invest in:

• Medical care and other healthcare services that people can’t afford on their own
• Educating the next generation of medical professionals
• Increasing awareness about healthier living to prevent chronic disease
• Affordable housing and job programs

Connecticut hospitals, including those with Yale New Haven Health System, spend billions of dollars each year on the purchase of medical supplies and food, facility construction and employee recruitment and development. These dollars have a “ripple effect” as they move through the larger economy, generating additional jobs and spending in communities throughout the state. Collectively, Yale New Haven Health’s hospitals have a total economic impact in the billions – another way that we give back to the communities we serve.
