U.S. News ranks YNHH among top hospitals nationwide

Yale New Haven Hospital continues to rank among the top U.S. hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” listing. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals surveyed, YNHH ranks nationally in nine adult specialties.

Psychiatry (11) and Geriatrics (15) rank in the nation’s top 15, while Pulmonology ranks #19, Ear, Nose and Throat #22 and Neurology and Neurosurgery #28. Urology and Diabetes and Endocrinology both rank #29; Gastroenterology ranks #33 and kidney disorders #31.

“We are very proud that Yale New Haven Hospital continues to be recognized as one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report,” said Thomas Balcezak, MD, chief medical officer, Yale New Haven Health System. “These rankings demonstrate our consistent ability to grow many of our patient-centered services and at the same time deliver the highest quality of care. That U.S. News & World Report recognizes these achievements means we are fulfilling our goal to provide the best care to the people of Connecticut and beyond.”

According to U.S. News & World Report, hard numbers support the rankings in most specialties – death rates, patient safety, procedure volume and other objective data. The entire national listing is available online.
