Michael Schaffer, David Strongin


Michael Schaffer has been named vice president, Ambulatory Care, Yale New Haven Hospital. He was most recently senior vice president of Ambulatory Care, Mt. Sinai Health System, New York, and senior associate dean for Clinical Affairs for the Icahn School of Medicine. He was also chief operating officer of the Mt. Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice. In his new role, Schaffer will oversee YNHH’s Ambulatory Care strategy and operations, including offsite centers. He earned his BA in English and economics from State University of New York at Binghamton and his MPA in health policy and management from New York University, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

David Strongin has been named director, Laboratory Medicine, Yale New Haven Hospital. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical laboratories, holding various leadership positions at healthcare facilities in New York, Florida and Connecticut. He joined YNHH in 2011 as manager of the clinical chemistry laboratory at the York Street Campus. Strongin attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook, earning a BS in medical technology.
