Transforming Healthcare Grand Rounds June 14

Employees are invited to Transforming Healthcare Grand Rounds, 5 - 6:30 pm Tuesday, June 14, Fitkin Auditorium. Bruce Leff, MD, professor of medicine and director, Center for Transformative Geriatric Research, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will give a talk, “Home-Based Medical Care: A Critical Strategy for Population Health Management.” Registration is not required. Career exploration fair June 15

Employees are invited to a career exploration information fair, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm Wednesday, June 15, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria. Employees must present their YNHH badge for admission. Representatives from area colleges and organizations will discuss educational programs, and additional resources will be available for employees exploring healthcare opportunities. Notes at Noon starts June 24

Notes at Noon, the annual summer music concert series sponsored by the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary, kicks off its 30th year June 24 with Holiday Ping, a pop/rock/funk/jam band. Concerts are Fridays, noon - 1 pm (weather permitting), in the Hunter Courtyard at the corner of York and Cedar streets.

YNHH earns five sustainability awards

Practice Greenhealth, a national organization honoring environmental sustainability achievements in health care, recently recognized Yale New Haven Hospital with five awards for implementing and continuously expanding environmental programs. YNHH won the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award, the highest honor for hospitals, for engaging in environmentally preferable purchasing, a bio-based cleaning program, waste-reduction efforts, food donations to local organizations, energy conservation initiatives, safer chemicals for patients and employees and environmental stewardship practices to decrease its carbon footprint. YNHH has eradicated harmful chemicals hospital-wide and is the only Connecticut hospital to recycle in all ORs. In addition, YNHH won four Circle of Excellence awards for being a top 10 hospital nationally in safer chemicals, greening the OR, healthy food and climate.

Epilepsy Center earns national accreditation

YNHH’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center has been re-accredited Level 4 – the industry’s highest mark – by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. First accredited Level 4 in 2010, the center is Connecticut’s only Level 4 adult comprehensive epilepsy center. The Center provides patients and families expert clinical staff and advanced technology for diagnosis, seizure classification and treatment. For information on the Center, call 203-785-3865.
