YNHHS offers COVID testing and isolation guidance for employees

Employees should refer to the following guidance for COVID-19 testing and what to do if they test positive.

Healthcare personnel (HCP) who develop symptoms at any time should be removed from work and schedule testing by going to Occupational Health testing website or by scanning the associated QR code.

The Occupational Health testing link is specifically for employees and the fastest way to schedule the earliest appointments. Do not contact the Employee Resource Call Center. This WILL NOT enable someone to obtain earlier testing.

What to do if you test positive for COVID-19

HCP who test positive via a PCR or rapid antigen test should follow these guidelines:

  • If you are not immunocompromised, isolate for seven days (with day 0 being the first date of symptoms; or, if you do not have symptoms, day 0 is the first date of a positive test result).
  • COVID-positive HCP who are immunocompromised or have severely ill disease must home isolate for 20 days.

Return to work

  • HCP who have completed their isolation DO NOT NEED clearance from the Employee Resource Center to return to work. They may return on day eight, as long as they are fever-free (for at least 24 hours) and have improved, mild symptoms. HCP DO NOT NEED a negative test to return to work.
  • Some HCP may receive a presumptive clearance via MyChart to return to work tentatively on day eight, but they do not need to wait for this clearance.

What to do if you are exposed to someone with COVID-19

Asymptomatic HCP who had a high-risk exposure to someone infected with COVID-19 should follow these guidelines:

  • If you had a booster vaccine dose, you may continue to work. Testing is not required.
  • Asymptomatic HCP who are not fully vaccinated, or are fully vaccinated but do not have their booster dose, may continue to work but should have a PCR test for COVID-19 once on day one or two after the exposure and once again between day five and seven after the exposure. Use the Occupational Health testing link or scan the QR code to schedule tests.
COVID-19 questions or concerns? Call the Employee Resource Center, 844-543-2147, Option 2. The center is open 7 am - 5 pm, Monday – Friday; and 8 am - noon weekends and holidays.
