Tabassum Firoz, MD

Dr. Tabassum Firoz, a board-certified internist, is an attending physician at the Bridgeport Hospital Primary Care and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the departments of Medicine and Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at the Yale School of Medicine. She teaches and supervises residents at the Bridgeport Hospital Primary Care Clinic. Dr. Firoz also has dedicated fellowship training in medical complications of pregnancy. Dr. Firoz is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.

She developed the Collaborative Obstetric Medicine [Medical Complications of Pregnancy] program at Bridgeport Hospital for which she received a 2022 Female Innovator Award by Westchester & Fairfield County Business Journals . As part of the program, she runs the Bridgeport Hospital’s Postpartum Heart Health program, which has been recognized by health.com as an Innovative Hospital Award Winner 2023.

Dr. Firoz is passionate about establishing practices where underserved women access care that incorporates their lifestyle, goals and overall health into their care plan. She leverages her global perspective on maternal health and mental health to support women who experience medical issues before, during or after their pregnancies.

Dr. Firoz has authored multiple textbook chapters and articles in medical journals. Her clinical and research focus includes the Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy, postpartum care of women with complicated pregnancies and racial disparities. She is a member of several national and international expert workgroups and is a consultant for the World Health Organization.
