Akli Zetchi, MD, is a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon who treats vascular disorders of the brain and spinal cord. He specializes in treating acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain aneurysms, carotid occlusive disease, and trigeminal neuralgia.
Additionally, Dr. Zetchi works in general neurosurgery and cares for patients with brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, and adult-onset hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain; this excess fluid puts unnecessary pressure on the brain, damaging it over time.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Zetchi researches innovative techniques to treat strokes, brain aneurysms, and brain and spinal cord vascular abnormalities. He also focuses on testing tools for improving surgical education.
