In December, alumni from Yale New Haven Health’s Lean In groups held a Fiscal Year 25 Leaning In For Life Event that featured networking, community giving and a fireside chat.
The chat, themed “Turning Controversy into Conversation,” featured speakers Katherine Heilpern, MD, Yale New Haven Hospital president; Amanda N. Skinner, RN, president and chief executive officer, Planned Parenthood, and a former YNHHS leader; and Andrea Terrillion, JD, senior director, professionalism and leadership, Yale School of Medicine, Office of Academic and Professional Development.
During the event, the group introduced a new vision statement: “We foster an environment where every voice is heard, valued, and respected, enabling impactful leadership within our organization and communities. We are dedicated to encouraging an inclusive workplace where individuals lead with confidence, integrity and purpose. Our commitment to continuous learning and supportive relationships empowers leaders to thrive and succeed.”
Attendees also donated gifts to the YNHHS Auxiliary Toy Closet Programs across the health system, which bring joy to hospitalized children year-round.
In 2014, YNHHS launched its Lean In Circles for women in YNHHS management and physicians in management. A few years later, the health system launched Men Leaning In Circles and the Leaning In for Life program for Lean In alumni.
