Operationalizing AI in Healthcare: From Concept to Health System Integration

Hosted by Yale New Haven Health, the 2026 Health AI Symposium brings together health system leaders, clinicians, innovators, and policymakers to focus on how artificial intelligence is being applied in practice across healthcare today. Now in its second year, the symposium reflects the field’s evolution. While last year emphasized governance and responsible foundations, this year centers on implementation—what it takes to remove barriers, integrate AI into workflows, and improve access to care in meaningful ways. Sessions highlight real examples from health systems, with a focus on feasibility, validation, and day‑to‑day use rather than theory.
A central feature of the symposium is the YNHHS Innovation Awards, themed Breaking Barriers, Building Access. This year’s awards highlight solutions developed by Yale and Yale New Haven Health teams that expand patient access, redesign clinical and operational workflows, support care beyond hospital walls, and enable new models of care. Selected teams may receive up to $50,000 in funding, along with the opportunity to validate their solution within Yale New Haven Health, subject to review and award criteria. Finalist presentations offer a practical look at what implementation looks like inside a large health system.
The Health AI Symposium is designed for healthcare executives, clinicians, digital and technology leaders, AI innovators, and policy and ethics professionals seeking grounded, experience‑based perspectives on applying AI to improve access, care delivery, and operations.
