    Who measures quality

There are quite a few avenues available for consumers to obtain information on health care quality measurements. Searching for this information can be overwhelming. We created these web pages because we wanted to make it easier for our patients to get the most up-to-date facts on our quality performance.

Additional prominent institutions reporting on quality include:

US Department of Health and Human Services
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a new hospital performance reporting website, Hospital Compare, designed for consumers. The CMS website contains information on how hospitals nationwide compare in treating patients with three of the most common medical conditions requiring hospitalization – heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia – as well as surgical infection prevention.

    The Joint Commission
A not-for-profit organization, the Joint Commission is the oldest and largest health care accrediting body. Joint Commission standards set forth performance expectations for activities that affect the safety and quality of patient care—that is, areas in which good performance is likely to lead to good outcomes for patients. Standards generally focus on whether the organization is doing the right things and whether it is doing them well.
