Monday, July 16, 2018

Greenwich, CT (July 16, 2018) – Greenwich Hospital today announced that, with support from Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), they will invest $160 million to expand clinical services and ambulatory centers in lower Fairfield and Westchester counties to enhance Greenwich Hospital’s ability to support the people and communities it serves.

“We are delighted by Yale New Haven Health’s commitment to support the continued growth of our hospital, which has been serving our community for over 110 years,” said Arthur C. Martinez, chair of Greenwich Hospital’s Board of Trustees. “This $160 million investment will ensure that we stay in the forefront of healthcare delivery and take full advantage of the exciting developments in treatment. Our 20 year partnership with Yale New Haven Health has served us well and we are pleased to strengthen and deepen it.”

Patients can expect to see many improvements in the coming months and years, including increased access to primary care physicians as well as surgical subspecialists. This summer, the walk-in center in Rye Brook, NY, will add pediatrics, x-ray, blood draw and primary care. This fall, the outpatient facility at 500 West Putnam Ave. in Greenwich will expand to include pediatric general and sub-specialty care, blood draw, physical therapy, pulmonology, cardiology and primary care. Additional ambulatory sites in Westchester County and another in Fairfield County will open in the near future with YNHHS support.

“Greenwich Hospital has been a vital part of our System since 1998,” said Marna Borgstrom, CEO, YNHHS. “We are extremely proud of the work we have done together in the past 20 years to expand clinical services and deepen our commitment to the health and well-being of the lower Fairfield and Westchester communities. We look forward to building on those successes”

Over the past 20 years, the affiliation has resulted in many clinical advances, including Cardiology care which has been significantly advanced with the addition of six full-time Yale Medicine cardiologists now seeing patients in Greenwich. The Hospital also opened a comprehensive women’s cardiology center focused on helping women prevent heart disease, which is the number one killer of women. The Women's Heart and Vascular Program provides screening, education and treatment for women at risk for, or with established heart disease.

Through Greenwich Hospital’s affiliation with Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH), physicians, representing more than 10 pediatric sub-specialists see patients right in Greenwich. These specialties include urology, gastroenterology, orthopedic, emergency services and pulmonology, among others. Greenwich Hospital has experienced a number of firsts thanks to the affiliation with YNHHS. Greenwich was among the first hospitals in Connecticut to acquire the da Vinci surgical system that enables surgeons to use advanced robotic technology to perform minimally invasive surgery with nerve-sparing precision. Recently staff celebrated the 500th procedure performed on the newest model, the da Vinci XI.

Greenwich Hospital received Gold level certification by the Joint Commission, the largest healthcare accreditation organization, in spinal fusion, hip and knee replacement surgery and inpatient Diabetes care. The Women’s Choice Award recognized Greenwich Hospital, for the fifth year in a row, as one of the top 100 hospitals for patient experience as well as top in Obstetrics and Breast Care.

In 2016, Greenwich Hospital received the prestigious Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
