Tuesday, August 14, 2018

US News Badge 9 Specialties

NEW HAVEN, CT (August 14, 2018) – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) continues to rank among the top U.S. hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” listing. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals surveyed, YNHH ranks nationally in nine of 16 specialties.

YNHH Psychiatry (#9) is now ranked in the nation’s Top 10 while Geriatrics and Pulmonology are both ranked at #23. Ear, Nose and Throat (#27), Nephrology (#31), Diabetes and Endocrinology (#34), Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (#39) as well as Neurology and Neurosurgery and Urology are both ranked #40 nationally.

“We are proud and delighted once again to have U.S. News & World Report recognize Yale New Haven Hospital as one of America’s Best Hospitals,” said Thomas Balcezak, MD, chief medical officer at YNHHS. “We have wonderful, skilled physicians and staff dedicated to providing safe, high-quality care to our patients. Our consistent recognition on the U.S. News list of best hospitals is a direct reflection of their commitment and hard work.”

According to U.S. News & World Report, hard numbers support the rankings in most specialties – death rates, patient safety, procedure volume and other objective data. The entire national listing is available online at www.usnews.com/best-hospitals.

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). Founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826, today, YNHH has two New Haven-based campuses, and also includes Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital. YNHH has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the nation’s highest honor of nursing excellence. YNHH has a combined medical staff of about 4,500 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties. www.ynhh.org
