The Yale New Haven Health System Center for Healthcare Solutions (YNHHS-CHS) is part of a diverse healthcare system which includes acute care and specialty hospitals. As the recipient of numerous federal and state contracts related to emergency preparedness, healthcare associated infections and comparative effectiveness programs, YNHHS has developed and adapted healthcare-focused best practices and evidence-based programs that address healthcare challenges. Leveraging its broad understanding of healthcare delivery, extensive expertise and a national network of partners and subject matter experts, YNHHS has disseminated programs and services in 47 states and territories across the country, including assessments, planning, education and training and program evaluation.
YNHHS is the lead organization of an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) consortium focused on Accelerating Change and Transformation In Organizations and Networks (ACTION). Its ACTION consortium members include The Joint Commission, VHA, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Yale University School of Public Health. The consortium is conducting comparative effectiveness studies that will enhance how healthcare organizations address a variety of issues including improvement of patient care outcomes and the use of health information technology.
Current national healthcare concerns include meeting the requirements of The Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goals for 2009 to improve healthcare quality and minimize "never events" identified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Expanding on efforts conducted through the AHRQ ACTION program, YNHHS has created programs and services for the healthcare workforce which support healthcare delivery organizations in improving the quality of healthcare and evidence-based patient outcomes.
