Yale New Haven Health System Center for Healthcare Solutions (YNHHS-CHS)
Current national healthcare concerns include meeting the requirements of The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals to improve healthcare quality and minimize "never events" identified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. YNHHS-CHS has developed and adapted healthcare-focused best practices and evidence-based programs that address these and other healthcare challenges.

YNH-CEPDR has been awarded the GSA Federal Acquisition Services Schedule 84 and 874 MOBIS
Yale New Haven Center for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response (YNH-CEPDR) has been awarded the GSA Federal Acquisition Services Schedule 84 and 874 MOBIS. This designation allows government organizations and the military to purchase professional services such as education and training products from YNH-CEPDR. The GSA Schedule 84 and 874 MOBIS designation will allow YNH-CEPDR to compete for contract bids released by federal agencies and departments. YNH-CEPDR has been designated as a PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response
The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) has designated the
Yale New Haven Center for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response (YNH-CEPDR) as a PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response. Through this designation,
YNH-CEPDR conducts activities designed to:
(1) encourage and harmonize efforts of member states to promote the physical and mental health of their people; and (2) stimulate cooperation among member states so that the people of the Americas achieve a healthy environment and sustainable human development. YNH-CEPDR provides technical advice, training, education and product development to PAHO in emergency preparedness, mitigation response, programs and activities.
FEMA has awarded YNH-CEPDR a training grant to address the evacuation and shelter-in-place needs of medically dependent people during a disaster.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded YNH-CEPDR a three-year competitive training grant to develop and deliver a national training program that addresses the evacuation and shelter-in-place needs of medically dependent populations residing in high-occupancy facilities. The primary audience for these courses will be first responders with homeland security related responsibilities. First receivers have been identified as a secondary audience. YNH-CEPDR is anticipating opportunities for collaboration among entities in the following capacities:
- Strategic guidance in course development and implementation strategies
- Subject matter expert review of draft materials
- Identification and recruitment of audiences to receive the approved courses
- Participation in a train-the-trainer module to assist in course delivery
- Participation in plan assessments
- Participation in regional exercises

National Center for Integrated Civilian-Military Domestic Disaster Medical Response (ICMDDMR)
The National Center for Integrated Civilian-Military Domestic Disaster Medical Response (ICMDDMR) was established in 2006, in partnership with the YNH-CEPDR and US NORTHERN Command to integrate civilian and military medical responses to domestic disasters through activities such as coordinated education and training, joint exercises and assessment and sharing of best practices in both sectors.

YNH-CEPDR has successfully trained more than 300,000 individuals in 47 states nationally through local, regional and national initiatives.

First Responders Receive Training
Officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Customs Department, Airport Crash and Rescue and the Port Department recently completed an intensive three-week course on Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Weapons. Twenty-three participants completed the course, which included both theory and practical exercises. The course was presented by Diplomatic Security Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program of the U.S. State Department. The participants were taught to respond, mitigate and rescue in an emergency from an attack of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear terrorism. YNH-CEPDR served on the faculty.
