Administrative Fellowship

The one-year administrative fellowship at Yale New Haven Health System provides the Fellow with a broad-based operational, strategy and project management experience. The Administrative Fellow spends an equal block of time at the System’s Corporate Office and at each of its hospitals (Yale-New Haven, Greenwich and Bridgeport) to prepare for a leadership position in systems or hospitals. Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 966-bed teaching hospital that is regularly listed on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll of Best Hospitals. Bridgeport Hospital is a 425-bed urban teaching hospital that features the only dedicated Burn Center in the state. Greenwich Hospital is a 176-bed community teaching hospital that has consistently received the Press-Ganey Summit Award for patient service excellence.

The Administrative Fellow works with the leadership team of each hospital during the year of Fellowship. The Fellow reports to the Yale New Haven Health System Executive Vice President, Strategy & System Development, and works directly with the hospital CEO and senior leadership during hospital rotations.

Project assignments are made at each hospital and based on initiatives underway during the Administrative Fellow’s tenure at the System, with an attempt to meet the specific interests and needs of the Administrative Fellow. At each hospital, key areas of focus typically include: performance improvement, service excellence, joint venture analyses, strategy development, new business development and operational changes. In addition, the fellow works at the System level on initiatives throughout the fellowship year. The fellowship year begins in July and applications must be submitted by October 15, 2010.

The Fellowship in System Administration Brochure provides more information about the administrative fellowship at Yale New Haven Health System.

For individuals more interested in operations, Yale-New Haven Hospital also offers a one-year administrative fellowship. More information about the Yale-New Haven Hospital Fellowship can be found here.
